Is it possible to make SLEEP interesting and appealing to teens? Absolutely. And this no-prep Sleep Hygiene Lesson + Project will show you how.
The editable google slides start by listing all the amazing health benefits of sleep—without revealing that it’s sleep. Students think it’s some magical pill. Once they see the benefits, they’re asked to guess what it is and how much they’d pay for it. When you finally reveal that it’s just… sleep—and it’s free and available to everyone—you’ve got their attention. Because let’s be real....teens don’t care unless it affects them.
So when they hear it helps with gym gains, skin, test scores, mood, and mental health? They’re in.
Once they’re hooked, it’s time to dive into what sleep actually is—covering the stages, purpose, and good sleep hygiene habits. Then comes the fun part: your students will rebrand sleep. They’ll create an ad campaign that highlights 1–2 of sleep’s benefits to convince their peers that “sleep is for the weak” is out—and their new rebrand is in.
To wrap it all up, students set a personal sleep goal and get a 2-week tracker focusing on 3 key habits:
- bedtime consistency
- screen-free wind-down time
- total hours of sleep
Included:
- Teacher’s Key (NHES Standard Aligned)
- 25 Editable Google Slides
- Follow-Along Worksheet
- Project Grading Rubric
- Sleep Tracker + Reflection Prompts
Let’s talk age:
I use this in my 9th grade health class, but it works great for grades 6–12.
