Is Pornography Safe? That's the question this porn literacy resource aims to answer. It's a perfect lesson for your Sex Ed unit if you're looking to understand how pornography effects the brain, the differences between porn and reality, and how it impacts our overall sexual health.
Through activities like Porn vs. Reality, students will analyze 30 scenarios to determine if they are most likely from porn or from real life sexual experiences. Examples include stretch marks, scars, pimples, immediate mutual arousal, consent, and condom use.
Students will also watch two educational videos: one by neurologists explaining the effects of porn on the brain, and another by LifeFluent, created specifically for this activity, which includes a worksheet and follow-along questions. Additionally, group discussion points are provided, encouraging peer conversations about how porn might impact society's views on healthy relationships and other related topics.
PLEASE WATCH THE YOUTUBE VIDEO BEFORE BUYING.
Not all sex ed classes are the same, and this lesson is direct, addressing topics like porn, sexual violence, sex, and arousal without skirting around them. To ensure it's age-appropriate or suitable for your class, please watch the video first. I use this in 10th grade, but it can work for grades 9-12. The lesson is also editable, allowing you to adjust examples to fit your preferences.
