Teach about depressants and the dangers of opioid addiction in a way that informations and engages students through this google slides lesson + case study station activity. I've found most drug lessons to be out of date and disengaging for students. So I selected relatable case studies of people their age to help them connect to the material.
This google slides lesson quickly and concisely introduces the main topics surrounding depressants and then the QR code station activity (6 youtube video case studies) allows the students to dive deeper on their own or in groups to learn about real world experiences with addiction, overdoes, and prescription drug misuse. I like using QR code stations because it gets the students moving and researching on their own with their phones.
The follow along worksheet is a great study guide for later assessments.
Great for grades 8-12. Lesson can last anywhere from 60-90min depending on if you have them complete every station.
