I was in an INTENSE gym class when I realized the power of group workouts and station activities—not just for a killer workout but also for creating engaging, high-energy classroom experiences for students.

The secret and what made my gym class so GOOD? Lights, timers, and MUSIC. Just like in a great workout class, the right atmosphere can transform any station activity from meh to motivating, focused, and fun. When students feel the energy, they stay on-task, engaged, and actually enjoy learning.

In this video, I’m sharing how I use these same principles in my classroom to make station activities run smoother, feel more dynamic, and keep students moving with purpose. Whether you teach middle school or high school, these simple tweaks can help you cut down on classroom chaos, boost participation, and make your lessons way more effective.
